11:00Understanding the Eucharist
This course which will help us to understand a little more about the Eucharist.

Session 1, Saturday 13 January @ 11.00am to 1.00pm, we will watch the superb 1980s film Babette’s Feast, in which food and drink work their magic and restore and heal a divided community.

Sessions 2-4, Saturdays 20, 27 January and 3 February, all 11.00am to 12.30pm. We will look at the themes of offering and sacrifice, of remembering, and at eucharistic practice past and present. What does it mean to follow our Lord’s command to ‘Do this in remembrance of me’? And how does that change us? All sessions will take place at St Michael’s church.

All are very welcome. Please come and bring your
thoughts, your questions and your friends. There will be tea/coffee and hopefully cake.

11:15Lent Course followed by Lent soup lunch @St Michel's Church
Our parish Lent course this year will be looking at the Gospel
of John.

The Gospel is God’s rescue mission to bring us from darkness
to light. This is the work of Jesus, the Light of the World. But it’s not
a solo mission: Jesus turns to his followers and says, “You are the light
of the world... so let your light shine.”

16:00Stations of the Cross St Michael's
Stations of the Cross are a devotional way of praying and reflecting on the Passion of Jesus, following Him on His way to Calvary. The purpose of praying the Stations is to follow Jesus Christ in his Passion and to see ourselves mirrored in Him. Movement is at the heart of this sort of worship, so we walk from station to station. Through the prayers and reflections, we both face life's dark side in ourselves and our world and also come to find the images of hope which Jesus offers in his Passion. By accompanying Him on the Way of the Cross, we learn to trust in God who delivers us from evil.
