More about our Advent and Easter Journeys

Our Advent and Easter Journeys are workshops which are aimed at helping children aged between 5 and 11 years learn more about Advent and Christmas and Lent and Easter. Each Journey, is an afternoon of craft activities and an unfolding story of the events of Christmas or Easter.

Our Advent journey last year focused on the journey of the Wise men from their first sighting of the star to their present Jesus with their gifts. We made Kaleidoscoples and calendars, and found out it took them a long time to find Jesus. We made camel masks, decorated gift boxes and a bottle to represent the gits of God, Frankincense and Myrrh. We met the shepherds on their way back and had a snack with them. And finally we decorated tea-light holders to remind us to shine as a light for Jesus.

Oone of our Easter Journeys, we followed in the footsteps of Jesus to the cross from his entry into Jerusalem to Jesus death and made shakers to represent palm branches, a money box to remember Judas’ betrayal, a cockerel finger puppet to remember Peter’s denial, we had a snack to remember the last supper and made a Roman Soldier puppet to remember Jesus’ arrest. Each journey workshop ends with worship.
