Christian Aid 2021

Join us in fundraising for Christian Aid Week during May 2021. It is the charity’s 75th anniversary year - and here at St Michael’s and St Paul’s, in partnership with other local churches, we plan special events to support Christian Aid’s work of campaigning and acting for social and climate justice worldwide:

  • We will hold a stall at the Farmers' Market in Wallington on the morning of Saturday 8 May to share information and build support. There will be leaflets and resources, and colouring and quiz sheets.
  • A thanksgiving service celebrating the 75th Anniversary will be held online at 6:30pm on Sunday 9th May. Register here to attend.
  • Linking in with climate justice and care for creation, there will be a sponsored litter pick in local parks on Sunday afternoon, 23rd May. Please contact to get your sponsorship form and join us! Bring the whole family.
  • There will be online fundraising initiatives, including
    • the annual "Quiztian Aid" quiz at 7pm on Saturday 8th May - sign up here to be in on the action!
    • an online bingo game, devised by our very own Barnaby Downer, at 8pm on Monday 10th May - please contact to receive your game card. Jill Forbes has kindly donated fun-size jars of her locally produced honey as prizes. Please donate generously!
    • e-envelopes that you can send to your family and friends
    • our team fundraising page - please click here to join the team and start fundraising! (Guidance notes - on the second page of the form, you are asked for a link to your page; we suggest using the format firstname-lastname-caweek-2021 so that you'll be able to create a new one next year without deleting your current page)
    • the world premiere performance of a new orchestral work, Song of the Prophets - a Requiem for the Climate - at 7pm on Wednesday 9th June, in the presence of Dr Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury
  • One initiative is the 300,000 steps personal fitness challenge in May. Could this be for you?
  • Joan Currion has elected to swim 75 lengths in honour of the anniversary, and is gathering sponsors via her personal fundraising page. Why not dream up a sponsored activity of your own?
  • As ever, we will invite donations from local residents to support Christian Aid’s work, visiting door-to-door during 10-16 May (safely and within covid rules).
  • If you're giving a donation, think about ways to commemorate 75 years of Christian Aid - e.g. give some multiple of 75p or £75, or something you can spare every week/month for a total of 75 days.

Volunteer helpers are always welcome and needed! Please contact
