A warm welcome to Hong Kong Migrants moving to

South Beddington

由香港 黎到 Wallington

St. Michael and All Angels Church Wallington同埋St. Paul's Church Roundshaw.

From Hong Kong to Wallington

It is estimated that some 1,500 Hongkonger's will migrate to the London Borough of Sutton. It may be that up to dozens of families will come to settle in our communities of South Beddington and Roundshaw.

We offer a warm welcome to those who want to worship and fellowship with us in our two churches: St. Michael and All Angels Church Wallington and St. Paul's Church Roundshaw.

A warm welcome to those who are settling in our community from Hong Kong. Come worship with us.  We aim to be an inclusive church, welcoming everyone, whatever their age, background, sexuality or relationship status and regardless of how much or how little faith they may have.

We see faith as a journey we take together, as we aim to grow closer to God and to one another, and to support each other in times of difficulty.  Some of our members have been committed Christians for many years, others are taking their first tentative steps towards faith.

Do have a look around our website to see more about who we are and what we do.  Feel free to contact the clergy.

A friendship festival is planed in the autumn, watch this space.  Click below for more information.

A little history behind the journey that migrants are making to the UK.

On 30 June 2020, China’s Parliament, the National People’s Congress, enacted a new National Security Law to apply to Hong Kong. The UK Parliament has stated that the new law is a “clear and serious breach of the Sino-British Joint Declaration and undermines the ‘one country, two systems’ framework”. (Source)

As a result, the UK Parliament has stated that in response to the passing of China’s new security law: “…the UK Government is changing the rights attached to British National (Overseas) status and is introducing a bespoke immigration route for BN(O) citizens and their dependents that will open for applications from early 2021. (Source)

This reflects the unique and unprecedented circumstances in Hong Kong and the UK’s historic and moral commitment to BN(O) citizens.”

A special prayer as we remember all who come to settle here in our communities:

Unite us beyond the borders of our lands.

Let us find blessing from those who come to settle in our community.

Bring joy to our hearts as we share

in culture, understanding, language and worship.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
