Our church services and the current situation with the COVID-19 virus

As a church community in the Parish of South Beddington & Roundshaw we face the delicate balance of keeping our corporate prayer life in place whilst following current Government and National Church guidelines, that help us all to stay alert, control the virus, and save lives.

Now is the time to re-open our churches.  Therefore it is with great gladness that we are able to confirm that from Sunday 12th July, St Michael’s will re-open for public worship.  St. Paul’s remains closed at the present time.

Sunday Mass: Sunday service will be at 11 am and will also be live-streamed on our parish website page. There will be restrictions in place which means that we are limited to 30 households in the congregation.

To enable social distancing to be kept, it is necessary that anyone who wishes to attend a service pre-books: i.e., if you wish to attend a Sunday service, you will need to telephone Mtr Angela 020 8647 1201 (or email gbebikan@cantab.net) to let her know.

If you do wish to attend the service on 12th July (or any following Sunday services), please let Mtr Angela know in good time but most certainly before Saturday 11th July and then before Saturday each week. If that service is full, then your name will go on the list for the next available Sunday service. Please note that there will be no possibility of physically attending the service unless you have “pre-booked”; we need to ensure that safe distancing is possible within the building.

Our services will continue to be live-streamed each Sunday at 11 am if you are unable to be physically with us.

Morning and Evening Prayer: Once St Michael’s re-opens for public worship on 12th July, we will be returning to praying Morning and Evening Prayer in the Lady Chapel at St Michael’s on Tuesdays – Thursdays.  This means that Morning and Evening Prayer will stop being live-streamed on our webpage after11th July.

You are welcome to join us either from home or in church at 9 am Morning Prayer and 5.30 pm Evening Prayer Tuesday to Thursday. Service books will not be available. There are Daily Prayer Apps you can use:

  • A prayer from the Dean of Southwark

    • We shall be praying for all affected by the Covid-19 virus and all working to keep us safe.  The Dean of Southwark Cathedral has written this prayer….

Loving God, source of healing and comfort, at this time of fear fill us with your grace that the sick may be made whole, this virus contained and a cure be found. Strengthen those who care for the sick, calm the anxious and protect the most vulnerable in the power of the Spirit and in the faith of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
