Welcome from the Vicar

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the website of the Parish of South Beddington and Roundshaw.

We are one parish, with two beautiful churches; St Michael & All Angels South Beddington and St Paul's Church Roundshaw.  There are regular times for services each week across the parish and other times when our doors are open simply to wander in.  Whether you are seeking a place to sit quietly, to join with others in worship, to pray with others or alone, or simply to come have a cuppa and chat or "look and see" you are always welcome.

St. Paul’s Roundshaw is open each weekday morning (except Friday) and on Saturdays at 9 for a simple service of prayer or simply "to Be".  On Wednesday's at 10.30 and on Sundays at 8.30 we have a Eucharist service (usually with a couple of hymns) and then time for a cuppa if you wish to stay and meet others.   The Eucharist services last approx 35-40 minutes.

St Michael's is open each weekday (except Friday) and on Saturdays at 5 for a simple service of prayer or simply "to Be".  On Sunday's at 10.30 we celebrate our parish Sung Mass with a robed choir, smells & bells and serving team.  On the first Sunday of each month we also have a beautiful celebration of Choral Evensong at 6pm. A special delight of our choir is we have all ages, and are always delighted to hear from potential new members, young or old.

If you are unable to be physically with us for prayers or celebrations of the Eucharist/Mass and would like to have a visit at home from myself or one of our pastoral team please do get in touch. It is always a great joy to visit parishoners at home and to know no one is denied access to the Word and Sacrament that we know brings the transforming presence of Christ. I am also mindful working patterns and/or caring responsibilities can make attending Sunday and other masses difficult for some, so please also get in touch if you are interested in us introducing new times/days as we consider expanding our sevices in the near future.  In the meantime, you may find it helpful to use the Spiritual Communion resource when you are unable to receive the sacrament.

As a parish, we see ourselves very much as pilgrims of faith journeying together as we grow closer to God and to one another.  Praying and worshipping God sits at the centre of our common life and feeds the vitality of our lives and service througout the week.  Exploring new ways of praying enriches our common life and I would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining with others to pray, study or worship.  Maybe you already pray the rosary or use practices such as Lectio Divina or Ignation Contemplation, perhaps you are a member of the World Community of Christian Meditation or are nurtured by prayer before the Blessed Sacrament or as you walk or sing or dance.  However you pray, or whatever your interests or questions about prayer are, let's share and journey and grow together.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday each week the doors at St Michael's are open from 9.30 am until 11.30 am and all are welcome.  This is a wonderful opportunity to come in for some quiet and/or prayer, to light a candle, explore the beautiful space or to meet up with others to share news and grow our common life.  There is always a cuppa on offer and members of our worshipping community on hand to make enquiries or get to know.  I'm also often in the church or close at hand and look forwad very much to meeting you.  I am also available to meet up by appointment in person or on the phone so please don't hesitate to get in touch if that's your preference.

We are a warm, friendly, and loving community of friends and neighbours finding our way in life with one another and with God.  Do come say hello and let's share in the adventure of doing life together, enriched by our diversity in every sense!
